"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat" Theodore Roosevelt
What a run!!! Another fantastic season of Monsoon football has come to an end. While the end result was not what we had hoped for, a trip to the "final four" for the second year in a row and an overall record of 9 wins to just 2 losses is still an awesome season, something all the boys, coaches, and parents should be very proud of!!!
Looking back over the season there are many more highs than lows, the growth in ability, skills and fortitude throughout the season have been impressive, our young men are growing up, the bonds of friendship and team work are helping to shape the men they will become. It is extremely difficult to see the boys like they were after the game Saturday, but like coach Thompson said that just shows they care. This is an extraordinary group of young men that I know will go far in whatever they decide to do with their lives. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every player for all their hard work and dedication, throughout the season, and to congratulate them on a heck of a good season!! And a special thanks to our coaches, who put in countless hours to help our sons become better players and give them all a little piece of themselves. I know I will never forget their tireless efforts, and I'm sure the team won't either.
Now for some fun... I think it would be fun to have every parent reflect on the season in a personal way, try to pick your favorite moment, play or whatever about your kid this season. Mine is easy, this is Cody's 5th year in football, but the first time he has scored a TD. And it came in the first game!! I'm pretty sure I was more excited about it than he was!!! OK parents your turn...
First and foremost, I would like to thank you Scott for all your hard work on this awesome blog. We looked forward to reading your commentary and seeing the great action photos you took. This is Eli's 3rd year playing pop Warner and I must say this has been the best year yet. He has improved in all aspects of the game and we could not be prouder. He was just telling me that he only scored one touchdown in the two years he played on the Venom. This year I honestly lost count! What stands out for me was that Eli had to be talked into playing this season. He wanted to play with all his old teammates, who unfortunately stayed down with the exception of Woody, Finley and Hull. He didn't know if and where he would fit in with the Monsoon. Little did he know what was in store for him. He went from not really wanting to play, to playing QB due to Raidy's injury. I was nervous for him though I tried not to show it. Eli makes friends very fast and I was glad to see the Monsoon team and coaches take him and mold him into who he is today. He fit right in as if he had played with them before. So for me it wasn’t a game winning touchdown or Hail-Mary pass, it was the whole Monsoon experience that stands out the most. I thank you parents for showing your support for the team in my opinion, the biggest fans in Pop Warner history! Thank you coaches for your love of the game and you hard work you put forth this season! Most of all, thank you boys for a most memorable season with the Monsoon football team……..it was a great ride! We are looking forward to another good run for the state title next season!

There were many favorite moments of this year, but I think the most EXCITING moment was the overtime win against the Bombers. I've never seen the boys so excited to win a game. They SOOO deserved that win! Congratulations to a team of boys who are all winners!
